I have seen the future of newspapers. It still takes two hands to read. You can roll it up and take it with you.

Don't even think about using it to wrap fish.

Plastic Logic's device is to be unveiled today. The Cambridge, Ma. company envisioned its crisp black-and-white technology for reading downloadable business documents.

But ...

"Newspapers is what everyone asks for," Richard Archuleta, the chief exec of Plastic Logic, tells the New York Times.

The device is continuously updated through a wireless link, and can store hundreds of newspaper pages. Or other documents.

The Times piece forsees a future where newspaper companies can cut the bulk of their expenses. The San Francisco Chronicle, for instance, spends 65 percent of its costs on printing and delivery, the Times reports.

The lightweight plastic device, yet unnamed, is 2.5 times larger than the Kindle, Amazon's entry in the renewable book and newspaper market, and one third as thick, but weighs only two ounces more.
