Another senior administrator leaving Philly schools

Donyall Dickey, the school district’s chief academic supports officer, is leaving the district at the beginning of August, a spokesman confirmed.

The musical chairs among Superintendent William Hite's senior staff continues.

Donyall Dickey, the school district's chief academic supports officer, is leaving the district at the beginning of August, a spokesman confirmed. He is expected to be hired as chief schools officer in Atlanta Public Schools, officials there announced Monday. The school board will vote on the recommendation on Aug. 10.

Dickey was appointed to his current position a year ago, after initially coming to Philadelphia as an assistant superintendent in September 2013.

His resignation is the latest in a series of departures by officials Hite hired from the Maryland-Washington, D.C. area. Deputy Superintendent Paul Kihn, who was a Washington-based consultant prior to joining the district, is leaving to spend time with his family. Chief Financial Officer Matt Stanski left July 1 to take a job in Montgomery County, Md., to be closer to his family.

Prior to coming to Philadelphia, Dickey served as a principal and teacher in Baltimore.

District spokesman Fernando Gallard said no one has been identified to fill the position in the short-term. A national search will be conducted for an eventual replacement.
