Meet Josh Shapiro's fan club

They are a who's who of Philadelphia.

So what are YOU doing for lunch Friday?

If you don't yet know, then you are not a member of the city's elite power structure. Because if you were, you would be lunching at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue, along with 40 of the city's most Very Important People who are hosting a fundraiser for Montgomery County Democratic state Rep. Josh Shapiro.

David L. Cohen. Lynne Honickman. Ken Trujillo. Ronald Rubin.

Joseph Frick. Stephen Cozen. Walt D'Alessio. John Estey.

Want more? U.S. Reps. Bob Brady, Chaka Fattah, Patrick Murphy and Allyson Schwartz. That's four members of Congress. Most fund-raising pols are elated to snag just one.

Oh, and there's a special guest. Mayor Michael Nutter. Tickets are $500 to $5,000 apiece.

One more thing. Not everyone in the banquet room will be a Democrat. "You will probably find there are a lot of Republicans, especially in the current political environment, who are drawn to fiscally conservative pro-business Democrats like (state Rep.) Mike Gerber and Josh Shapiro," said GOPer Gregg Melinson, a former deputy general counsel to Gov. Tom Ridge (R). "It's not so much about political idealism as doing good things for Pennsylvania."

Some say 35-year-old Shapiro, running for a third term in office - AGAINST NOBODY - is a rising figure in the state Capitol.

This list suggests he's already risen.
