NBC10 offers air time to Republican mayoral candidate

NBC10 announced this afternoon it's offering some airtime to the Republican mayoral candidate, Karen Brown, but Brown says she's still going to protest a show tonight featuring Mayor Nutter.

Philadelphia's NBC affiliate announced this afternoon it's offering airtime to the Republican mayoral candidate, Karen Brown, but Brown is proceeding with a protest against an hour-long telecast this evening featuring Mayor Nutter.

"They're trying to stall us so we won't protest," Brown told the Inquirer. "We'll take the time if they offer it but they won't put anything in writing. They're just trying to keep me from going up there and ruining their show."

Nutter is scheduled to appear live at 7 p.m. in a half-hour telecast called "Ask the Mayor," taking questions from an invited studio audience, Twitter, Facebook and email.

The session will continue with a livestream on the Internet until 8 p.m., at www.nbcphiladelphia.com.

Brown asked to participate in the event and was turned down.

NBC 10 issued a statement this afternoon saying simply that it "has reached out to the campaign of Karen Brown and offered her the opportunity to appear on our air. We are currently working out the details with the campaign."
