Two slain in overnight shootings in city

Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:

Homicides detectives this morning are investigating two slayings in the city overnight.

A Southwest Philadelphia man died after he was shot in the chest shortly after 10 o'clock last night in a Northeast Philadelphia apartment building. Intruders shot Ronald Price, 36, inside a friend’s home on the 8800 block of Ditman Street in the Upper Holmesburg section. Also wounded was a 43-year-old woman, who was shot in the neck. She was reported to be in stable condition this morning at Frankford-Torresdale Hospital. Police were searching for three men who fled on foot after the shooting.

Shortly before midnight, detectives were called to the Mayfair section where they found a man shot multiple times on a driveway on 7500 block of Torresdale Ave. The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:05 a.m.

As is often the case, detectives looking for the killers also are trying to determine motives for the shootings.
