Flyers forward Simon Gagne has two small hernias in his right groin area, the team announced today.

The diagnosis was made after an examination by Dr. Allen Schurict from Pennsylvania Hospital, after Gagne had an ultrasound procedure yesterday.

The Flyers said their medical staff will meet with Gagne on Wednesday to discuss possible treatments.

Huge surprise. Guy was more worried about showing Team Canada he could play than he was about helping the Flyers. Hope he's out until after the Olympics, then gets traded.

Fortunately Dr. Meyers is right here in Phila. He is the best at repairing hernias in professional athletes. I referred two friends to him, he operated on them, they are 100%, they said he was terrific.

Trade? But for who? Not another draft pick please... Honestly, who would the Flyers get their hands on to replace him when he becomes healthy?

They should've traded him at the deadline last year when they have might have been able to get something for him. I predict he's out until after Valentine's Day.

If they're regular inguinal hernias, surgery will be very minor, rehab will be two to four weeks. He'll be back and stronger in no time. This is not major surgery.

And where are the geniuses who claimed Gagne was just a new father and was playing soft to avoid injury and collect a paycheck. Turned out the man was played with 2 hernias. Thanks Gagne for the years and playing hard. Sorry you had to play in from of (some, not all) MORONS.

kev - its a bunch of ifs...and to further add to your post, his return will be longer than normal. gags was already weakened from the hip surgery and groin injury. Therefore, he will not only lose some recovery strngth there but he will lose even more while down with this injury which will just add an extended recove, repair and rebuilding time. I would say you would be extremely lucky to see him back before the first of the year.
