Emery done for season

TAMPA, Fla. - Flyers goaltender Ray Emery is done for the season, according to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren.

Emery, who has been out of action since Feb. 1 and was placed on the long-term injured list yesterday, will have surgery "in the near future," Holmgren said.

"He is suffering from avascular necrosis and will have a bone graft done to alleviate his hip issues," Holmgren said.

Dr. David Ruch will perform the surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

Emery, 27, is 16-11-1 with a 2.64 goals against average for the Flyers. He is due to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, making it unlikely the Flyers will take another run at him for next year.
