NEWARK, N.J. – Brian Boucher, the unheralded goaltender who carried the Flyers to their Game 1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night, opted to skip practice today.

Judging by Boucher’s pale, gassed look just minutes after his 23-save performance, it was no surprise he wasn’t on the ice. Boucher admitted the Devils “made him work” with shots from all angles.

It was his first playoff win in 10 years.

“We’re playing every other day,” Boucher said. “The idea of morning skate and game seemed to make more sense than practice today and skip the morning skate tomorrow. It was just a choice.”

Also missing was Chris Pronger, who logged 30:01 of ice time. Both players were at the Prudential Center today for the skate but did not participate.

SLAP SHOTS: Ville Leino practiced with the Flyers for the first time since Saturday. He said he is feeling “much better” … Defenseman Ryan Parent said he did not know if he would play in tomorrow night’s Game 2. A lineup change could be in the works since Lukas Krajicek and Oskars Bartulis saw limited minutes and their pairings needed to be changed up after a turnover-laden start to Game 1.

hey frank...any news on if Parent's back was flaring up prior to game 1 or if it was just a decision on Lavy's part to go with Bartulis over Parent?

Pair up Parent & Syvret. Gotta be better than Krajicek & Bartulis.

Tonka, calm down, we only have the best playoff defenseman on our team and may be riding a hot goaltender for a while. Washington although scary on offense, can be beaten. I like the Flyers to do something similar to what they did 2 years ago and make it to the conference finals. And who they meet there? That's anybody's guess if Ottawa can oust the Pens.

Prongs and Boosh are real Flyers in that if they need the rest, they at least SHOW UP to the optional practices/skates, unlike Richards, who doesn't even show. what a joke that he has the C. great performance by Boucher, keep it up. we need more shots though

@Tonka, perhaps you missed the first game so let me fill you in on what's been happening: This "doomed" team is so far winning the series. Enough said. Go Flyers!

The series is a toss up. The Flyers are in the heads of NJ, but I think NJ looks better talent wise. But, talent doesn't always win in the playoffs, see Caps v Habs. The Flyers have Pronger, who is the diff in the series, and believe the Flyers will win in 6 or 7.

Servalli, kind of curious on why you think the Bartulis 3 yr deal is going to "haunt" us as I saw on your twitter page. They signed him for $600K a year, even if he isn't a top 6 defensemen then that is really cheap for a 7th serviceable defensemen like him. And what would be wrong with stashing him in the AHL where he could develop. I know he signed a 1 way deal, so if the flyers were to try and move him back and forth, he surely would be claimed as he is still young. So, I'm having a hard time seeing how this trade will "haunt" them. They can either keep him at a reasonable price or let him walk, in either scenario he isn't haunting them at $600K or nothing.
