Betts skates, Gagne doesn't

POSTED: Friday, May 14, 2010, 12:38 PM

BOSTON -- Blair Betts, the Flyers' best penalty killer, skated this morning and is expected to play in tonight's Game 7 against the Bruins.

Betts appeared to have injured his shoulder in the waning minutes of the second period in Game 6 when attempting to make a check into the boards. He did not skate yesterday.

Meanwhile, Simon Gagne did not skate but said there is nothing bothering him. He also is expected to play.

Gagne said he skipped practice because it was "just practice" and said he is trying to give the bone in his foot more time to heal.

There were concerns that Gagne might have reaggravated his fractured right big toe when he blocked a shot in Game 6. He was kept off the ice yesterday for precautionary reasons.

Count on the B's cheapshotters to target Betts.

Unfortunately for Hartnell the only explanations are that he is 1) hiding an injury 2) hit his peak at a young age and is on the downside of his career ALREADY.

Hartnell has played well in the past two games. Hopefully he has his swagger back. I am concerned with the injuries to Betts and Gagne, but also with the rookie. Time for JVR to wear his big boy pants and step it up. This isn't New Hampshire anymore.

egmet i been tryin to figure out the same thing for the whole season..for a professional hockey player to fall down as much as he does is kinda embarassing..the mites on ice are atleast entertaining when they fall....and hopefully gagne is good to go cuz this series turned around when he came into the lineup

I agree with the sentiment that JVR needs to step up and contribute. I realize he's still a rookie, but with all these injuries, he needs to fill the void and contribute something, anything offensively. He really looks out of place on the ice. Let's Go Flyers!

I'll be at the Maple Leaf in Houston, Tx w/ some other transplants tonight representing the Orange and the Black. It is 90 down here, but I'll still have my jersey on. gotta support the team.

Hartnell stinks and takes WAY TOO many penalties. Should've traded him instead of Upshall. Cannot afford to take cheap penalties tonite Pronger, Carcillo, Hartnell and Briere take notice). Finish your checks and let's celebrate!

Why doesnt Jvr drive to the net,he has the size and speed, time for him to get dirty. As much as people ride hartnell you have to admit that he works hard along the boards and in the corner, but is lacking confidence. But he was taking shots last game which is a good sign.

Hope Betts can gut it out......that dude is crucial on the PK, and you know the Bruins are gonna get "at least" 2 penalty calls they shouldn't.

@no_shootouts......Of course they will, as will the Flyers, that's part of the Golden Rule of Hockey, "Do unto others before, they do unto you". Amen, let's play.
