APP ONLY: Nickname contest results

ATLANTA -- After our headline asked readers for a nickname for the Flyers' red hot line of Danny Briere, Scott Hartnell and Ville Leino.

(which includes the same D, S, and L)."

"DVS (devious) for Danny Ville, Scott. Hartnell is "devious" w/ his trash talk & play in the crease. Briere is "devious" w/ his cheap shots & stick work. Leino is "devious" w/ his puckhandling skills & holding onto the biscuit in the offensive zone."

"In honor of those collective bone heads at nhl operation, my suggestive Briere line name: The All-Stars or "tick tack toe" line

"If you add up the numbers 48, 22, 19 = 89. "Pop Song 89" was the third single released from R.E.M.'s sixth studio album Green.     REM also is a sleep term for rapid eye movement. I am suggesting the REM Line. New lines for Jim Jackson and the TV crew: instead of beat him like a rented mule........ "The opposing goalie has been put to sleep by the REM Line "! If the line scores the winning goal  .....  Devil, Rangers, Blackhawks etc...  have just been put to sleep once again by the REM line" If the line scores a late insurance goal .........  "this line has officially REM'd  this game and the Flyers can now look forward to a nice flight home." If one of the linemates deeks someone, or makes the opposing defense look bad with a cool move/goal......  "Leino from the REM line just put Chara to the sleep after that move."

"I recommend the Dawg line. Every time they score, a SINGLE refrain of  "Who let the dogs out?  Woof, woof! " could be played. Good fun, if not overdone!"

"How about the Gordie Howe line.....Hartnell will fight, Lenno will get you the assist, Briere will get you your goal or I was thinking the LHB line kinda like the LCB line Clarke, Leach, Barber!"

Which one did you like the best? Personally, I think the last one is hysterical, but I'm not sure we could print that in the newspaper or Hartnell would take much of a liking to it.
