Vedge offers $55 tasting menu on weekdays to mark 5th anniversary

Five courses include a vegetable charcuterie board and a shepherd's pie made from maitake mushrooms.

Vedge - Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby's nationally recognized vegan restaurant in Washington Square West - is going the unusual route of an optional tasting menu for dinner Monday to Thursday.

At $55, it runs five courses:

Vegetable Charcuterie Board: pickles, smokes, roasts, marinades, ferments, breads, condiments

Radish Ramen: daikon noodles, shishito, sea beans, shiitake dashi, burnt nori

Melted Brassicas: black pepper fregola, Calabrian chile, autumn peppers

Maitake Mushroom: "shepherds' pie" with roots, mustard, leeks, black lager

Caramel Apple Cheesecake: candied peanut-pretzel crunch, pomegranate ice cream

It's available by reservation (preorder) only. Landau said the menu will be offered through mid-December.
