Two new Philly restaurants make a national 'best' list
They are Fitler Dining Room, a polished bistro that opened in February at 22d and Spruce Streets, and Luke's Lobster at 130 S. 17th St., the Philadelphia location of a fast-growing Maine-based chain of quick-service lobster roll eateries.
Two very different Center City restaurants were ranked among the best new restaurants in the United States by Urbanspoon.com, a mobile app.
They are Fitler Dining Room, a polished bistro that opened in February at 22d and Spruce Streets, and Luke's Lobster at 130 S. 17th St., the Philadelphia location of a fast-growing Maine-based chain of quick-service lobster roll eateries.
Urbanspoon issued a list of 100 of the most viewed, reviewed, and liked restaurants to open their doors this year, compiled from more than 46,000 new restaurants.
The list also highlights some of the trends shaping the restaurant industry. Taverns and laid-back barbeque joints gained in popularity while many diners still shy away from fine dining, with more than two-thirds of the list (70%) in the $15-and-under price range on Urbanspoon.
The majority of the restaurants on the list offer casual fare with a unique twist, which appealed to diners seeking something new yet approachable.
Also on the list is Le Diplomate in Washington, D.C., a Stephen Starr restaurant reminiscent of Parc on Rittenhouse Square.
