ShopRite in Cherry Hill recalls ground meat

The ShopRite of Garden State Pavilion at Route 70 and Cornell Drive in Cherry Hill has initiated a voluntary recall of all store-made ground meat produced and sold on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.

There is a possibility that these products may contain small pieces of the black tray liner pad used in the packaging. All varieties of ground beef and meatloaf mix processed in the store on Tuesday, July 24th are being recalled. All other meat products sold at ShopRite are not affected by this recall.

"We are advising customers who purchased any of these products at the ShopRite of Garden State Pavilion to return them for an immediate refund or replacement," said ShopRite spokesperson Karen Meleta in a statement. "Although the pieces of the liner pad may not cause an immediate health risk if ingested, we wanted to alert the public so appropriate steps can be taken." No injuries related to the recall have been reported to the store.

ShopRite has reached out to its ShopRite Price Plus Club customers who have purchased this product to alert them to the recall via phone.

This is an isolated incident and affects only the ShopRite of Garden State Pavilion. ShopRite requests that customers please check the labels of any ground meat products they may have purchased from this store and may still have at home. Please return any affected products for a full refund or replacement. Pre-packed ground meat products and ground meat sold in other ShopRite stores in the area are not affected by this recall.
