Philly woman's chili wins a national contest

Jill Gilber created Cherry Bomb Chili with Sweet Heat Firecracker Crumbles. It gets her a trip to see the Super Bowl.

Inveterate food-contest entrant Jill Gilber of Philadelphia recently won the grand prize of the third annual Riunite Ultimate Chili Challenge. She was among the semifinalists who competed in Washington in late October and then advanced to the finals in Phoenix.

Her "Cherry Bomb Chili with Sweet Heat Firecracker Crumbles" beat out 300 plus entries from around the country. See the recipe here.

Gilber, who happens to manage a travel agency, wins a trip for two to San Francisco in February to attend what Riunite - apparently not an NFL sponsor - calls "the Big Game."

Gilber has been competing in recipe contests for nearly eight years, and she's captured contests sponsored by such brands as Kenmore, Chiquita, Davidson's Safest Eggs, and Arnold Bread.

She also competed in the World Food Championships in 2013 in Las Vegas.
