One local restaurant featured on Yelp’s ‘Top 100 Places to Eat’ list

Yelp has released its annual list of the 'Top 100 Places to Eat,' this year including just one Philadelphia area restaurant in the roundup.

In 2015, four local restaurants made the cut: Beiler's Bakery, Café La Maude, Mood Café, and Reading Terminal Market. This year's big winner, however,  Michael Solomonov's modern Israeli cuisine eatery, Zahav — the only local restaurant to be included on Yelp's list.

Owned by CookNSolo Restaurants, the company behind spots like Dizengoff and Federal Donuts, Zahav was placed at number 62 on Yelp's list. In 2015, Reading Terminal Market ranked best among the Philadelphia spots at number 35 overall.

Yelp created its rankings this year based on several factors, including the restaurants' ratings dating back to 2004, the year the website was founded. Yelp describes the restaurants on the list as ones that "rank so highly in the Yelp community's opinion that they have earned the status of 'must try within this lifetime.'"

News of Yelp's list comes just one day following Lonely Planet's listing of Philadelphia as the "best place to visit" in the United States, thanks in part to our "hot new locavore restaurants."
