Jessie’s Day fundraises for organ transplant recipient scholarships at Seaport Museum

This month, the Independence Seaport Museum will play host to a fundraiser that aims to help college-bound organ transplant recipients with paying for school.

Jessie's Day will hold its annual fundraiser at the Seaport Museum on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the event are $55 for adults, and $30 for students, and are currently available.

Jessie's Day was founded in memory of Jessica Beth Schwartz, a Temple University journalism student who passed away in 2003 at age 23 after having received a heart transplant at 14-years-old. Now, the Schwartz family's Jessie's Day works each year to provide four organ transplant recipients who are going to college with $2,500 scholarships.

For its 14th annual fundraiser this year, Jessie's Day will feature food from The Blue Duck and Sweet Nectar, as well as Bourbon Blue, Pastifico, Capital Grille, and more. A beer garden with brews from Yards and Rock Bottom will also be available.

Activities include silent auctions, children's entertainment, music from DJ A-Run, and an appearance from Q102's Casey Reed.
