Bourbon Bash at Loews raises $37,000 to help teachers
That's a 5% rise from last year's tally.
Last year's inaugural Bourbon Bash at the Loews Philadelphia hotel raised $35,000 for DonorsChoose.org, which allows cash-strapped teachers to post requests for materials to help their classroom projects.
This year's second event, which was Tuesday, April 26, raised $37,000.
That's an increase of 5.714 percent, year over year.
And we know this because at some point in school, a teacher told us that the formula for percentage change is (y2 - y1) / y1)*100. (And - ahem - because calculators exist online.)
Loews execs - including president/CEO Kirk Kinsell, HR director Armand Pasquini, senior VP of food and beverage Mark Weiss, and VP of operations for the East Coast David Weidlich - trained down from New York to join the 250 attendees and the hotel's managing director, Scott Nassar.
Bank & Bourbon restaurant's bourbon master, Paul Zuber, headed the cocktail bar, and chef Thomas Harkins and his crew plied the crowd with plenty of food, including the house-made charcuterie and desserts.
