The Flyers this Tuesday night will be unveiling their new retro orange jerseys, which will become their alternative third jersey.

To celebrate the event, the Flyers will be holding a “meet the team” party for season ticketholders that will begin at 6:30 at the Wachovia Center. Those who attend will be able to grab autographs from various players and also take pictures of them. In addition, they will have a chance to win prizes and play games.

Those new jerseys will go on sale the next day, Nov. 19, at philadelphiaflyers.com, and will be available for the first time in person at the Wachovia Center starting 7 a.m. on Black Friday (Nov. 28).

It's about time they went back to the orange jersey. I hate those black jerseys. Flyers colors are Orange, black & white, NOT black, orange & white. Just another money grab by the NHL.

The black jerseys are just brutal. They look like every other team. But the black jerseys are still the home jerseys. These new jerseys are just the new alternate jerseys.

They've rolled out new jerseys every other year. Get some consistency Snyder. How about rolling out dependable defense?

Dump the black jerseys completely and go back to orange. Another Flyers tradition long gone; just like solid D, good goaltending, and intimidation....

Wow, tough crowd. Apparently the Phillies afterglow has worn off. I'm really glad they're going with orange again. Hopefully these will become popular enough that they lose the black jersey altogether (just like the black replaced the orange).

About Paul Vigna
Paul Vigna still has the seat he wrestled out of the concrete at Connie Mack Stadium parked in the finished basement, a 1980 Phillies championship mirror hanging above it. Now, why he’s kept an autograph of former Flyer Bruce Gamble on a sheet of Hockey Hall of Fame paper is another story. A native of Philly who grew up in Lansdale, he’s an assistant sports editor at the Daily News in charge of special projects who has written two columns related to sports and consumers: View From the Seats and Savvy Consumer.

ABOUT THIS BLOG:
Athletic contests were, for a long time, simply fun and games. Nowadays they’re just a small part of a sports entertainment industry that puts billions of dollars into play and a number of issues into motion. Moneyball indeed. You might be closer to the action than ever before, but that privilege comes at a price - and often it’s beyond what you can afford.

With that as the backdrop we’ll use this blog to dig out stories and swap advice about how the fan experience is changing and what it’s costing you now and in the future. Some of it will educate, some will let you vent. And in a sports panel format, it should allow for a consensus of opinion that can carry some weight.
