Thomas Rejoins Dragons

Drexel junior guard Derrick Thomas has rejoined the team after his interim suspension was lifted on Friday. The decision to lift the suspension was made shortly after the criminal charges filed against him were withdrawn.

According to the school, Thomas had voluntarily surrendered himself to the Philadelphia Police Department's Northwest Detectives after being charged with simple assault and criminal trespass.  The University placed Thomas on interim suspension pending the outcome of the investigation.

Thomas missed Drexel's regular season finale, a 73-72 win at Old Dominion on Feb. 25 and didn't participate in the Colonial Athletic Association conference tournament, where the Dragons lost to VCU, 59-56 in Monday's championship.

A 6-foot-3 junior, Thomas has stated 26 games and appeared in 27 for the 27-6 Dragons who will find out Sunday if they have received an NCAA at-large bid. If not, the Dragons are guaranteed a spot in the NIT after winning the regular season CAA title.

Thomas is averaging 8.0 points in 31.9 minutes per game.

Drexel coach Bruiser Flint and school officials declined any further comment.
