Harry Potter and the Unauthorized Lifetime Biopic

Opening yesterday's mail (finally), I find: -- The first two episodes of the new season of Glenn Close's "Damages," which starting July 13 can only be seen on DirecTV; -- Three episodes of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," though not, oddly enough, the first three episodes of the new season, which starts July 10, or even consecutive episodes, but, according to an HBO rep, "the episodes Larry [David] wanted sent out." -- A screener for a Lifetime movie, "Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story," that the network describes as an "unauthorized biopic, based on an inspiring true story" and that Rowling, who's said to guard her privacy, has reportedly declined to describe in any way whatsoever.

Opening yesterday's mail (finally), I find:

-- The first two episodes of the new season of Glenn Close's "Damages," which starting July 13 can only be seen on DirecTV, encased in a complicated plastic contraption that's most likely to damage only the environment if I can't figure out a way to recycle it.

-- Three episodes of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," though not, oddly enough, the first three episodes of the new season, which starts July 10, or even consecutive episodes, but, according to an HBO rep, "the episodes Larry [David] wanted sent out."

-- A screener for a July 18 Lifetime movie, "Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story," that the network describes as an "unauthorized biopic, based on an inspiring true story" and that Rowling, who's said to guard her privacy, has reportedly declined to describe in any way whatsoever.

Poppy Montgomery ("Without a Trace") stars as the woman whose "Harry Potter" series pulled her out of poverty  -- way out -- making her the envy of Muggles anywhere.

I can't say I'm not mildly curious, or pleased that for once the subject's magic, not murder. But having seen Lifetime's equally unauthorized take on "William & Kate," I'm not exactly expecting "The King's Speech," either.
