A 32-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a loaded gun recovered at a North Philadelphia school earlier this week, police said.

Latanya Pressley, from the 1500 block of Judson Way, is charged with recklessly endangering another person and a violation of the Uniform Firearms Act. Police said would not elaborate on her connection to the 7-year-old student, but said she is not related to the boy.

Authorities said the boy, a first-grader at Reynolds Elementary near 24th and Jefferson, brought a loaded .357 magnum revolver into the cafeteria before school and was showing it off to some friends. A student alerted a school police officer, who took the boy to the principal's office.

The student has been suspended, but is not facing charges, officials said. Police characterized the boy as a "good student," but declined to say how he obtained the gun.
