W. Philly man nabbed for N.Y. threats

Donald Wallace is in big, big trouble in the Big Apple.

Wallace, 39, has been charged with terroristic threats and creating false public alarm after allegedly making a phony 9-1-1 call near the Lincoln Tunnel, Port Authority police said last night.

About 6 p.m. yesterday, Wallace told a dispatcher that a "sniper" was on his way to New York, and told officers to be "ready and captivate," according to police. He also claimed to have a gun and dangerous chemicals.

Gun-toting SWAT officers shut down the area around the tunnel in response and evacuated several light-rail trains as a precaution.

Detectives traced the call, and arrested Wallace in Manhattan late Tuesday night.

Police said Wallace hails from College Park, Ga., but public records list his current address as a home on Hobart Street near Master in the Carroll Park section of West Philly.

There was no answer last night at Wallace's Carroll Park home.
