A student at West Philadelphia High School was shot in his forearm during a large fight outside the school Thursday around 4:20 p.m.
Police watched surveillance footage of the incident, which showed a crowd of between 40 and 50 teens — most in their school uniforms — fighting on 51st street near Walnut after classes were dismissed, Lt. John Walker, of the Southwest Detective Division said.
It was unclear who fired the shot, or what circumstances led up to the fight, he said.
The 15-year-old boy was taken by his mother to Mercy Hospital, and was later transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Walker said the boy was listed in stable condition as of 9 p.m.
Police said the boy was initially not cooperating with police who tried interviewing him, but became more helpful later Thursday evening.
No arrests were made.

Around 4:20pm when did school day end 4:00pm?? I see security and staff was on top of this, when 40-50 students mass outside of school!! Oh, that's right they're relying on the security cameras to catch protental problems, money well spent!!

- This is the product of today's society. Parents that do not care what their children are doing and bring them up to be the bullies and thugs that they are. If you are under the age of 18 and you get arrested your parent should get arrested as well. Not one race is excluded in what I am talking about. As a parent of 2 children that lives in the city of Phila. I know at all times where my children are and always will know. I watch everyday as absent parents let their children come and go with no regard or respect for anyone or anything. You are right not all children are bad but there are certainly more bad then good these days.
