Second woman strangled to death in Kensington in two weeks

For the second time in two weeks, a woman was found strangled to death at an abandon property in Kensington on Saturday.

For the second time in two weeks, a woman was found strangled to death at an abandon property in Kensington on Saturday.

Nicole Piacentini's partially-clothed body was found half inside and half outside of the doorway of an abandon three-story house on Cumberland Street near Jasper around 4 p.m., police said. She was pronounced dead on scene at 4:10 p.m. but the case wasn't declared a homicide until last night, when an autopsy report was conducted by the Medical Examiner's Office, police said.

It has not been determined if any tools were used to strangle Piacentini or who placed the call to police to alert them of her death.

Just 10 days prior and less than a mile away, Elaine Goldberg's partially-clothed body was found in an abandon lot on Ruth Street near Hart Lane. Someone had strangled the 21-year-old nursing student and former drug addict to death with his or her bare hands, according to the autopsy report. Her murder remains unsolved.

Police have not connected the two cases together yet. Anyone with information on either case is urged to call Homicide Detectives at 215-686-3334.
