Two gunmen followed a Temple University student into his off-campus home last night and robbed him and six friends at gunpoint, tying them up and pistol-whipping one, police said.

The incident happened at 7:30 p.m. on 18th Street near Berks, just a block off campus, said Officer Jillian Russell, a police spokeswoman. The robbers followed a 20-year-old student into the apartment and stole cell phones and a safe with unknown contents, Russell said. That student was treated at Hahnemann University Hospital afterward for a minor cut and bruises to his head. The other victims, women ages 18 and 19 and a 19-year-old man, weren't injured.

Both robbers had silver handguns and were of medium build and about 5-foot-10. The first wore a brown hooded sweater with the words Bucks County Community College and a bandanna covering his face and had a silver handgun. The second robber wore a dark-colored hooded sweater and a handkerchief covering his face.

Tipsters are asked to call 9-1-1.
