Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man in West Philadelphia early Sunday.

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man in West Philadelphia early Sunday.

Police said the victim, whose name was not released, was shot once in the chest on Dewey Street near Arch at about 2:53 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

According to 6ABC, the victim got into a dispute with a 25-year-old armed security guard who was double parked on the same block. The victim reportedly parked behind the security guard to drop something off to his girlfriend, and when he returned to his car an argument ensued. The man reportedly pulled a gun and fired a shot at the security guard, which is when the guard returned fire striking the man in the chest.

Officer Jill Russell, a police spokeswoman, said homicide detectives are conducting interviews at this time, but no charges have been filed.
