It was a 33-year-old woman from Bella Vista who tragically lost her life in a violent hit-and-run crash on State Road in Northeast Philadelphia Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.

Theresa Pozzi, 33, of Kimball Street near 6th, was crossing State Road outside Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility about 5:20 p.m. when police say a black truck -- possibly a pickup or tow truck -- barrelled into her. An eyewitness told the Daily News Tuesday night that the truck didn't even slow down when it struck the woman.

The woman was pronounced dead at an area hospital at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday.

Police on Wednesday continued searching for the truck that killed the woman, which fled northbound on State Road from the scene of the crash. Cops described the truck as an older model (1987 to 1991) dark-colored truck.
