One area trucker tried to do just that though, after hitting and killing a pedestrian who was walking along I-95 late Friday night, according to police.
Today, state police announced they located the driver, identified as Ward Bennett III, 46, of Lumberton, N.J., and the tractor trailer he was operating Friday night when he allegedly hit and killed Gerald L. Martin, 65, of Philadelphia.
For unknown reasons, Martin was walking along 95 North near the Allegheny Avenue exit around 11:50 p.m. when he was struck by Bennett, who was driving a 2006 Peterbuilt tractor trailer, police said.
Bennett fled and Martin was pronounced dead on scene. Bennett's tractor trailer was located in New Jersey and towed back to Philadelphia, where the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
