Police: Two shot, one dead, in Logan

A shootout inside a black Chevy Monte Carlo in Logan left one man dead and another injured Sunday night, police said.

At least two men were in the car on Wyoming Avenue heading west toward Belfield when gunfire broke out. The front-seat passenger, who was in his 20s, was shot more than once and pronounced dead on the scene at 10:57 p.m., while a second victim was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He was shot once in the stomach, police said.

The surviving victim told police that the shooting was started by a drug-related argument, said Police Inspector Joe Bartorilla. Several fired cartridge cases and three handguns were found in the car.

Police weren't sure last night whether there was a third person in the car at the time of the shooting, and they said they hadn't found drugs in the car around 11:30 p.m.

While police were investigating, a Chevy Impala pulled up to the scene, and a few men got out and attempted to ask questions. One of the men was handcuffed and taken into custody, and police said they suspected he may have known something about the shooting.
