One killed, another critically wounded in Southwest Philadelphia shooting

One young man is dead and a teenager critically wounded following a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia on Tuesday, police said.

One young man is dead and a teenager critically wounded following a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia on Tuesday, police said.

The shooting happened just after 1 p.m. on Carroll Street near Buist Avenue. Police said a black male, estimated between the ages of 17 and 19, was shot once in the chest. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. The second victim, a 17-year-old black male, was struck once in the back. He was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

No arrests have been made. Police have not released the name of the murder victim or the details surrounding the shooting.
