A Philadelphia police officer who was being investigated by Internal Affairs committed suicide this morning.

A Philadelphia police officer who was being investigated by Internal Affairs committed suicide this morning.

Officer Kristopher J. Epes, 33, shot himself inside his car in Bensalem about 6 a.m., said police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore.

Epes, who assigned to North Philadelphia's 22nd District and joined the force in 2006, was being investigated for allegedly committing fraud of some kind, Vanore said. The investigation was not yet closed, he added.
