Officer injured in car accident

A police officer was hospitalized after a car accident Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. at Castor and Erie avenues.

Police said the officer who was driving complained of neck and back pain and may have broken the thumb on his right hand.

The officer was taken to Temple University Hospital. No other injuries were reported. Information on the cause of the accident is not yet available.
