A Philadelphia Police officer was arrested Thursday on assault charges stemming from altercations with his live-in girlfriend and his ex-wife in April.

Police said Officer Howard Lomax, 40, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend inside their home on April 20, and visited his ex-wife at her home on April 24 and assaulted her.

Officials said the women suffered minor injuries, but were not hospitalized.

The department's Internal Affairs Bureau and the District Attorney's office investigated the incidents and Lomax is also facing two counts of recklessly endangering another person.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Lomax for 30 days with the intent to dismiss, police said.

Lomax is a 17-year veteran of the police department and works in the Center City district, police said. He is the 27th police officer to be arrested in the past two years.
