Man fatally shot in SW Philly

A 42-year-old man was gunned down in Southwest Philadelphia earlier tonight. The victim, identified as Martin Young, was shot numerous times on Pentridge Street near 56th about 6:20 p.m., said Homicide Sgt. Tim Cooney. Young died a short while later. Investigators had no motive.

Cooney said witnesses described the gunman as a 5-foot-6 black man who was about 180 pounds and in his late 20s. The shooter fled in a dark-colored car, which might have been a Mercury Grand Marquis, Cooney added. Tipsters can contact detectives at 215-686-3334 or -3335.
