Man shot in Mantua, hospitalized
A shooting in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia left a 20-year-old man hospitalized in stable condition Monday night, police said.
Shots were fired on 32nd Street near Haverford Avenue around 10:05 p.m. and the victim was wounded in his left leg and right hand.
Police took the wounded man to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and were canvassing the scene for evidence and witnesses Monday night. Police said a weapon may have been thrown into the bushes near the crime scene.
Three witnesses were taken to speak with police in the Southwest Detective Division and the motive behind the shooting was unclear Monday night.
A detailed description of the suspect was not immediately available.

It was probably over a girl....this won't stop until every Black male 17-25 is dead in every inner city.....were almost there. It makes me wonder if they were slipped a drug and told..."kill the guy that looks just like you especially if he blinks".If you think about it, this is how it seems. chop1118
Comment removed.- I am a black male, 26 years old, a resident of Philadelphia, a native of the Philly slums and more productive than most of the individuals here commenting. I define productivity as educational background, service to community and tax value.
I don't wish you death nor do I hope for long-lived peril in your lives. I just want you to understand that YOU'RE NOT BETTER THAN ME, and that every inner city black male from teens to twenties isn't a criminal. Generalizing is as much as a problem as making excuses and I ask that you do neither. I promise to do the same.
