I dunno about you, but I ALWAYS have $1,000.00 cash on me at 9pm outside of my home. Nothing suspicious about that, right gang? brendan from chinatown
@ brendan from chinatown: I understand the point that you're making (and you might be right), but, playing devil's advocate for a minute, it strikes as entirely possible that the dude had legitimate reasons for carrying that much cash. For instance, he could be a renter, and that money could've been his rent money (we are, after all, coming up on the first of the month), and his landlord might prefer cash payment (one of my previous landlords did). Just sayin'. wb2nd
Brenda from chinatown - he could be a small businessman who was followed. gb

Friday night? $1,000? Maybe it was payday and he just cashed his check. Believe it or not, some people who live in the city do work for a living. Bigdawg1513
$1000.00 at 9PM? and that's wrong?!! Guess a lady who wears sexy clothing was "asking for it" eh? Narrow minded, that's all I'm saying TomCook
He was headed to the gas station to fill up his Cadillac Escalade. Bush's cronies are manipulating the price of gas. Wilhelm Von Humboldt
Too bad the only people who can carry guns in Philly are the outlaws. The nazis who run the city certainly wouldn't want an ordinary citizen to get a carry permit and avoid getting robbed .... XXXXXgumby

"description of the suspect was not immediately available"--are you kidding me? Unforntunately it can happen in any neighborhood. Years ago I had a Bug Whacker, my slogan was, once they get whacked, they don't come back. Do you get my message? paulfromtheoblongtable

stuff like this happens at least 5 times a day in the city... must have been a slow news night kevwalton
Sounds rather simple. It would seem that he was made a poor choice of seller. Surprising, though..that he reported it to the police. Must really be mad. thepaguy
.keeping it real must be nice to be able to carry a 1000.00 in your pocket it,s perhaps better to get get robbed with a grand in your pocket than two dollars, and he has a right to have such on his person and that does not have to imply that he was doing anything illegal, however who the HELL would be outside his home with that some of money no matter what the reason, DAM the landlord. But some who made a bad decision or just someone STUPID. younger21
Well, if he was met outside his home it suggests that he was set up by a friend or family member or perhaps followed as one poster had offered. WantToKnow
As someone who has worked in a bank, it wouldn't be out of the question that someone would have $1000 or more on Friday. There are scores of people out there who do not have checking/savings accounts and pay their bills w cash or money orders. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, we can agree that the victim was guilty of not using more common sense. I see guys cash their checks and then stuff a wad of bills in their sock right in the middle of the bank lobby all the time. blunted1
If you tempt the devil, don't complaint when he comes. I wouldn't carry $50 in my pocket in that neighborhood. DonQ
Friday is Payday all around the world. Would someone making money illegally report a robbery? Dexter- I am astounded at the level of hate directed at the VICTIM! Where is the outrage that a man cannot carry cash without having a gun stuck in his face? Why the assumptions that "that neighborhood" is so dangerous? (It isn't) It is legal to have US currency in your possession, folks. The victim may not have been too wise, but he had every right not to robbed of HIS money! No sympathy for the victim because he lives in the wrong 'hood or perhaps because he "must have been up to something". You idiots make me sick...

I agree with TyroneShoes. How could you have a description of the gun, but not the robber?!? outlaw
Most workers are paid on Friday. And if he works honestly, should be able to carry what he wants though not wise to do so. But he should open a checking account for direct deposits. He problaby was set up or the robber just lucked up. Not too many paydays, like this, for robbers on individuals. And if I'm carrying that amount of money, then carry your own gun. outlaw
we should be able to carry as much cash as we feel like carrying. Its sounds like some people are blameing the victim. danconway1
