Man faces charges in 2012 double murder at W. Philly's Corral bar

A familiar face from the Daily News' biweekly "Week's Most Wanted" feature has been charged in a 2012 West Philadelphia double homicide.

A familiar face from the Daily News' biweekly "Week's Most Wanted" feature has been charged in a 2012 West Philadelphia double homicide.

Tyheem Melton, 39, was on the lam for more than two years after police say he opened fire early the morning of April 6, 2012 inside The Corral, a bar in the shadow of the Market-Frankford El on Market Street near 52nd in West Philadelphia. Killed in the shooting were 38-year-old Troy Wimberly and 43-year-old Crystal Shadding.

The fugitive was arrested late last month for speeding on Interstate 75  in southern Tennessee. He initially gave the officer several fake names before finally disclosing his real identity.

Police in Bradley County, where Melton was apprehended, said the rental car he was driving was fully stocked, and that it appeared he had been traveling for some time.

He waived extradition, according to police, and flew back to Philadelphia to face murder charges.

Melton was arraigned Thursday morning and is being held without bail, according to court records.

For his arrest in Tennessee, Melton has been charged with being a fugitive from justice, criminal impersonation, driving without a license and speeding.
