A 30-year-old parking lot attendant is clinging to life after being beaten with a brick during a robbery in Center City Wednesday night, police said.
The incident unfolded about 7:50 p.m. in the EZ Park garage on Locust Street near 13th.
Witnesses told police they saw a black man in his 30s with dreadlocks attack the man and then rifle through his pockets once he was on the ground. Police said the man was wearing a black jacket.
A thin black woman with short hair who was wearing a green dress rummaged through the attendant’s booth while the man went through the victim’s pockets, police said. The two jumped into a black Old City taxi cab and fled east on Locust.
It was unclear what the suspects took from the victim, and cops found the brick that was used in the attack.
The victim was taken to the Jefferson University Hospital in extremely critical condition, and police remained on the scene Wednesday night.
Two cameras recorded the incident and three witnesses spoke to cops, police said. Tipsters should call 215-686-TIPS.

- Dont fool yourselves. Commonly these crimes are committed by Black Males. The victims are overwhelmingly other Black Males. White and Hispanic males in and around Phila should feel relatively safe given that Black Males are killed in Phila at a rate of 1 a day.
Pennsylvania has the Castle Doctrine Law, Gun battles are legal in the streets of Phila. All shootings you read about in the news paper are not bad shootings, there's no way they can be all bad. - One thing not mentioned in the article is that the attack took place DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET from where Mumia assassinated Daniel Faulkner back in 1981. 30 years later and nothing has changed in that hood. Getting rid of the Section 8 housing on 13th & Locust would be a good start to cleaning up that area. Then they could shut down the Parker Hotel at 13th & Spruce. — F. Harry Stowe
