A 26-year-old man was hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday afternoon in West Philadelphia's Belmont section.

A 26-year-old man was hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday afternoon in West Philadelphia's Belmont section.

Police were called to Ogden Street between 41st and 42nd at 2:25 p.m. and found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the right side of his abdomen. Police said officers in a patrol wagon took the man to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He remained there in stable condition late Wednesday afternoon and was undergoing surgery, police said.

The shooting remains under investigation, and no motive or suspects have been released.
