Shooting leaves man hospitalized, two others in police custody

Two men were in police custody after a shooting in Hunting Park Thursday evening, cops said.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said at 6:21 p.m., a 29-year-old man was shot twice in the leg at the corner of Delhi and Butler streets. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

Small said cops found 12 .380-caliber shell casings and two .45-caliber casings at the scene, indicating that there were two shooters.

About 20 minutes after the shooting, Highway Patrol officers stopped a car matching the description of one seen fleeing the scene of the shooting at Glenwood and Allegheny avenues, Small said. A witness positively identified the two men inside the car as two seen fleeing the scene, Small said, and both were arrested and taken to the East Detective Division for questioning.

No formal charges had been filed later Thursday night. Cops were unsure what led to the shooting.
