A Philadelphia high school teacher was busted by Montgomery County cops last week for selling a pound of pot to an undercover officer near Cheltenham High School - and it wasn't the first time, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

On two prior occasions, Paul Stein, a teacher at George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science in North Philadelphia, sold 16 grams of marijuana for $100 to an undercover Cheltenham Township cop, but last Wednesday he upped the ante when he sold the undercover a pound of pot for $1,500, police said.

That transaction took place less than 100 feet from Cheltenham High and at the time, Stein was armed with a loaded revolver in his waistband, according to police.

When authorities raided his Philadelphia home with a search warrant, they discovered another pound of pot, five guns, a bullet-proof vest and $16,000 in cash, the District Attorney's Office said.

A call to a Philadelphia School District spokeswoman regarding Stein's position at the school and his employment status was not immediately returned. According to an on line Temple newsletter describing a trip to the university Stein made with his class, Stein teaches civil engineering and architecture at Carver High.

He has been charged with numerous drug offenses, including possession with the intent to delivery marijuana.
