Cops searching for escaped prisoner

The search is on for a 19-year-old man who escaped from police Wednesday night at the Albert Einstein Medical Center around 7:30 p.m.

Police in the Northwest Detective Division said he was arrested earlier Wednesday on a warrant for drug offenses. However, it was unclear what the man was hospitalized for.

A security guard at Einstein told police that a black SUV was seen leaving the hospital around the same time the man escaped.

Police traced the license plate information on the vehicle back to the man’s mother. They searched her house Wednesday and did not find him there.

Cops said it was unclear whether he fled the hospital in the SUV, or if he ran off.

Police in the Northwest Detective Division said the man’s identity — along with a mug shot — will likely be released Thursday morning.
