A man was stabbed by his own son outside of a North Philadelphia funeral home this morning, according to police.
The 56-year-old victim was attending the funeral of a family member at the Baker Funeral Home on Broad Street near Norris and was outside the facility around 10:39 a.m. when his 35-year-old son stabbed him in the back with a kitchen knife, police said.
The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was treated for his injury and released, according to police. His son, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken in to custody at the scene and is expected to be charged with aggravated assault, police said.
A motive for the stabbing was not released.
An employee who answered the phone at the funeral home said she could not comment on the incident.
