Cops: Man shot by Drexel University police officer

A Drexel University police officer shot a man who was allegedly carrying a gun on 32nd Street near Arch in the Powelton section of West Philadelphia Friday afternoon, police said.

A Drexel University police officer shot a man who was allegedly carrying a gun on 32nd Street near Arch in the Powelton section of West Philadelphia Friday afternoon, police said.

Shots were fired around 6 p.m. and the man was wounded in an arm and a leg.

Police said he was in stable condition and was being taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The officer who was involved in the shooting is also said to have sustained injuries to their face and is being taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as well, police said.

Additional details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately available.
