Cops: Driver killed in Juniata Park

A man was gunned down in Juniata Park today, shot while driving down a busy street, police said.

Just after 3 p.m., officers responding to a report of gunfire on I Street near Luzerne found a man in his 30s shot several times in his torso, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The man was slumped inside a white minivan and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, according to a police source.

A passenger inside the van was not hurt and is currently being interviewed by detectives from East Division, the source said.

Initial evidence from the scene indicates an unidentified shooter opened fire on the van as it was heading down I Street, striking it several times.

The vehicle came to rest after smashing into a second minivan.

There was no information available on a motive or suspect, according to police.
