Coach Reid's son hit with traffic violations

POSTED: Tuesday, July 5, 2011, 2:32 PM

Eagles head coach Andy Reid's son, Britt, was pulled over for several traffic violations Thursday, after years without a run-in with the law.

State police said Britt Reid, 26, was given citations for speeding, careless driving and tire equipment violations while driving on a state roadway in Lower Merion Township. A state police spokesowman did not know the exact location or time of Reid's traffic stop.

Reid can either deal with the citations by paying the appropriate fines or by taking them before a magisterial district judge, the spokeswoman said.

The traffic citations are tame compared to the trouble Reid faced in 2007, when he displayed a gun to another driver during a road-rage incident. While free on bail for that case, Britt Reid was found to be driving under the influence of intoxicants and in possession of more than 200 prescription pills.

He was sentenced to eight to 23 months in jail and served five months of that sentence before being paroled into Montgomery County Drug Court for 15 months. He graduated from drug court in June 2009 and has not made headlines since.

Lower Merion PD was clearly trying to catch him with drugs, but failed. Sorry, the story still remains your School District is ran by pedophiles.

I did not know it was possible for one person to have so many sign-in names. This made the news because what affects Reid, affects the Eagles, affects us the fans.

"after years without a run in with the law". It's been two years folks. Is that some record for this creep. He and his entire family should pack it up and head back to Packer-land. Criminals out.

Ok so we hold him accountable for this by printing this stuff, but we don't hold the School District of Phila accountable for a $629M deficit, we don't hold Arlene Ackerman accountable for anything since she still has a job...unbelievable reporting. What a joke.

I guess once Philly.com gets its claws into someone there is no retreat. This is truly despicable reporting. Shame.

Given the nature of the violations, it was better for him to have a run in with a cop than to have a run in with a tree. A loser is a loser is a loser.

;-) Well, what I wanted to really say would never have gotten past the "posting police." But I hear you...bad analogy!

I'm OK with ignoring the first two charges but that "tire equipment violation" is serious stuff. Does everyone realize how dangerous it is to be riding around with a missing air cap?

How is this news? Geez...give the kid and his father a break! It is NOT news every time someone farts in the Reid family.

Did they check the Green Hornet (aka Britt Reid) for track marks as well?
