Bank exec's death appears accidental, cops say

Summary should be 1st paragraph of body

Investigators do not suspect foul play or a suicide try in the death of a bank executive whose body was found in the Wissahickon Creek Saturday, two months after he vanished after crashing his car near his East Falls home.

The Daily News wrote about the mysterious death of David Taundi, a Zimbabwe native and Bank of America executive who also worked for the Alzheimer's Association's Delaware Valley chapter, in today's paper. Taundi had been driving home after a night out with friends early Dec. 15 when he drove his Toyota Camry off the road and hit a tree on Henry Avenue near Philadelphia University. A witness told police a man climbed from the disabled car and walked away from the wreckage. Taundi's father reported him missing shortly after.

Police pulled Taundi's body from the creek Saturday. "It appears to be a tragic accident," said Lt. George McClay of Northwest Detectives. Autopsy results are pending.
