Bandit in burka foiled in gas station robbery try

Police are seeking the woman in a burka who tried to rob a Delaware gas station last evening.

The robed robber struck at the Getty station at 1400 S. DuPont Highway in Bear, Del., at 5:20 p.m., according to the Delaware State Police. The 61-year-old gas station clerk told police the burka'ed bandit demanded money from the cash register. She did not display a weapon, so the clerk refused the robbery demand and triggered a panic alarm, according to the state police. The would-be robber fled and was last seen running south, empty-handed. The clerk was uninjured.

The suspect appeared to be 35 to 40 years old, about 5-feet-7, and 125 pounds. She wore a black Muslim burka over her face.
