Two men were fatally shot in separate incidents within about 15 minutes of each other in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, police said.

In the first shooting, a 19-year-old man was shot several times throughout his abdomen and legs at 58th and Master streets in West Philadelphia’s Carroll Park section shortly after 7 p.m., according to Inspector Joseph Bartorilla.

The teen was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he clung to life for almost two hours before being pronounced dead at 8:58 p.m. Preliminarily, police were unsure what led to the shooting and did not report any arrests.

At 7:26 p.m., cops were called to 66th Street and Paschall Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia’s Elmwood neighborhood. When they arrived, they found a man lying partially on the sidewalk and partially on front steps of a house at the corner with a gunshot wound to his chest, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

That man, whom police have not determined the identity of but believe is in his late 40s or early 50s, was pronounced dead there at 7:30 p.m., Small said. Police did not find ballistic evidence at the scene, but Small said a surveillance camera at a business near the scene recorded the shooting and showed the gunman running west on Paschall Avenue after shooting the victim.

Two cell phones were found at the scene, Small added, but police were still working on determining who they belong to.

No arrests were made in either homicide as of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
