Tomorrow, the ‘R-word’ disappears

At its weekly meeeting tomorrow, Delaware County Council will announce that the Office of Mental Retardation is being changed to the Office of Intellectual Disabilities because the word “retarded” and its variants are “widely used to denigrate people."

Who would've thought Rahm Emanuel's closed-door rant against liberal activists would trickle all the way down to the Media courthouse?

The name change, by the way, coincides with President Obama's signing of Rosa's Law, which eliminates the words "mentally retarded" from federal laws. Eliminating offensive words from his former chief of staff's vocabulary, however, will take more than an act of Congress.
